چکیده
This contribution explores the extent to which rhythm-based features of poetic texts can contribute meaningfully authorship recognition. We show that, although a binary categorization languages as syllabic vs. accentual-syllabic fails fully explain differences. However, once we formalize accentual regularity continuum, our analysis shows that attribution results improve move from most least accentually regular languages. result supports hypothesis is an inhibiting factor in long understood continuous property.

Rhythm-Based Syllabic Stress Learning Without Labelled Data
We propose a method for syllabic stress annotation which does not require manual labels for the learning process, but uses stress labels automatically generated from a multiscale model of rhythm perception. The model outputs a sequence of events, corresponding to the sequences of strong-weak syllables present in speech, based on which a stressed/unstressed decision is taken. We tested our appro...
متن کاملError spotting using syllabic fillers in spontaneous conversational speech recognition
Spontaneous conversational phone-call speech databases are difficult to recognize because of the large variation of speech rates, of pronunciations as well as noises, of acoustic degradations from the telephone channel, and of an unpredictible non-grammatical language structure including many random phenomena. Each cause of misrecognition can be addressed separately; however there is still no s...
متن کاملSyllabic Tone Perception in Vietnamese
This paper discusses tone perception in Vietnamese under audio only and audio plus video conditions. The lower part of a male speaker's face was recorded on digital video as he uttered 22 sets of syllabic tokens covering the six different tones of Vietnamese. In a perception study the audio signal alone, as well as audio plus video conditions were presented to native Vietnamese speakers who wer...
متن کاملSyllabic length effects in visual word recognition and naming.
Two experiments investigated the role of the number of syllables in visual word recognition and naming. Experiment 1 (word and nonword naming) showed that effects of number of syllables on naming latencies were observed for nonwords and very low-frequency words but not for high-frequency words. In Experiment 2 (lexical decision), syllabic length effects were also obtained for very low-frequency...
متن کاملSyllabic reduction in Mandarin and English speech.
This study examined whether language specific properties may lead to cross-language differences in the degree of phonetic reduction. Rates of syllabic reduction (defined here as reduction in which the number of syllables pronounced is less than expected based on canonical form) in English and Mandarin were compared. The rate of syllabic reduction was higher in Mandarin than English. Regardless ...
